And He Makes It: West Des Moines' Gary Zupan comes up with a stolen base during his team's fourth-inning rally against Stamford in yesterday's second game. At left above, Zupan starts his slide while Stamford Third-Sacker Bob Frattaroli awaits him. At right Zupan makes it safely, as Umpire Tom Neff signifies. The leadoff batter and first base runner of the inning, Zupan had reached second on a wild pitch after drawing a walk, and probably surprised everyone with his steal of third since his team was trailing by six runs at the time.
