"The peerless Rolland Frey was, as far as I know, the first man in Ann Arbor to style himself an Interior Decorator. He was certainly the best known among local mavens of taste. His very successful business was (and is) called Advance Interiors. He later designed an imposing false front for the business (a series of panels) that stretched for a hundred yards or more along S. State. When this picture was taken, his house was on the west side of the road (bottom of photo), just north of where, 20 years later, Eisenhower Parkway was put through. This photo looks EAST."
