Caesar Decrees All The World Should Be Taxed As part of a continuing Christmas pageant at University Reformed Church during Advent, Bill Craven playing Caesar Augustus, center, read a decree last Sunday ordering all persons to be taxed (enrolled as part of a census in their hometowns). Because of the decree, Joseph and Mary, mother of Jesus, had to travel to Bethlehem before Jesus' birth. Also pictured are Kirby Dilworth, guard, left; Pete Cook, Roman general Gauis; and John Boshoven, guard. The pageant was completed last night with the nativity scenes being performed in a barn owned by Mrs. Walter Mast of Dexter. Fred Karr, producer of the pageant, "The Word Became Flesh," says, "We have made every effort to keep as close to the actual events leading up to the birth of Jesus as possible. We have tried to capture a mood and create an experience for the children. This is the third year University Reformed has held the pageant in an unheated barn."
