Swimming off the dock. "Smoke Trails" Bay City to 40 Mile Point. 40 Mile Point is in Presque Isle County on Hammond Bay on the western shore of Lake Huron in Rogers Township, MI. The 40 Mile Point Lighthouse was built in 1896 to assist ships through the dangerous shoreline where open water, hidden shoals and false bays had claimed a number of vessels.
