Operation Beautification: Fifty flowering crab trees were planted last night along the front of the Veterans Memorial Park (formerly the Fairgrounds) by the agriculture conservation committee of the Ann Arbor Kiwanis Club as a step in beautifying the area. The trees are fast growing, reach a height of about 20 feet and flower profusely during the spring. Carrying out part of the project here are (from left) Kendall B. May, chairman of the Kiwanis conservation committee; Howard C. Leibee; and Herbert Welhener, president of the Kiwanis Club.
