RED CROSS REACHES ACROSS THE WORLD: The inquiry and information service of the home service committee of the Washtenaw county chapter of the American Red Cross arranges for Washtenaw county residents to communicate with friends and relatives who reside in belligerent nations. Mrs. Merle Malin (right above) is shown delivering messages to two anxious Washtenaw residents. Nicholas Constant (left) has a wife and three children in Sparta, Greece, and David Hwang (center) sends and receives messages through the Red Cross to his parents in Tientsin, China. David, whose Chinese name is Nien-Tsu, is a junior at the University and has already communicated with his parents several times.
