OLD STONE SCHOOL: Neighbors in the Stone School district in Pittsfield township brought stone by horse and wagon to construct this Stone School in 1911. The one-room school building is now used for dinners and meetings and also as the site of a nursery school. The school district has grown rapidly and a new Stone School has been built across the street from this structure. The first school built in Washtenaw county was built in the township.
