DEAF MUTES WED IN AIR: An all sign-language wedding 1,800 feet in the air, united Marguerite Thornton, 40, and James P. McArdle, 45, this noon. Both deaf mutes, the Detroit pair said they met when they were passengers in an airplane, and so decided to hold an airborne wedding. Left to right are Capital Airlines Hostess Carolyn Siewert, 23, of Detroit, McArdle, his bride, Detroit Police Officer Fred Ryan who served as an interpreter, and Municipal Judge John R. Labadie of Allen Park, who officiated. The plane took off from Willow Run, circled over Wayne County and returned in a half hour.
