SMOKE GETS IN YOUR EYES: A highlight of the Michigan band's half-time entertainment was a series of formations depicting modern inventions. Pictured here is the result of a Stadium "atomic explosion," which left part of the field veiled in smoke for several minutes. The explosion also heralded the arrival of the U-M team, which "exploded" in the second half. (Ann Arbor News, November 17, 1952)
