MICHIGAN HELMETS TO RIDE IN COMFORT: When Coach Fritz Crisler sends a substitute into the Michigan football games this fall, the sub won't have to worry about finding a grid helmet that will fit. Because on the sidelines will be the newly acquired helmet trunk which will be wheeled out on the gridiron for all the Michigan games with the exception of the opener with California. Each man's helmet will be in a special compartment on which will be printed his name. The sections of the trunk come apart as is shown above at the right. The sections will be arranged in a certain order each time so that each gridder will know exactly where to locate his top-gear. Henry Hatch, property custodian, is shown putting the helmets into the trunk, which has 48 compartments. When the game is over, Hatch will gather up the helmets, put the sections back together and the trunk is ready to wheel back to the equipment room.
