Motorists and householders with long stretches of sidewalk to shovel may curse it, but to the lover of the outdoors, a fall of new snow is a thing of beauty. Scenes like this one reward the hiker or the back-roads driver after a snowstorm passes. Here Fleming Creek curves gracefully on its course through whitened fields, while trees - their harsh winter blackness muted - stand like sentinels guarding the little stream along its leisurely path. No human foot has passed here yet to mar the snow painting nature has created.
