James H. Addington of Church St. is pictured above as he examines the tomatoes in his thriving Victory Garden located in the alley between Forest and Olivia Aves. Mr. Addington, who is 68 years old, has 25 varieties of vegetables in his 15-yard square garden and was able to eat the first yield of golden bantam corn this week. His tomatoes, also ready to eat, are trained on neon tubing through which he waters them. Mr. Addington planted his garden early, most of it in April, and spends a good share of each day tending it.
