Judy Manos, head of the First Annual St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Benefit, is helped from a 1958 Rolls Royce by her husband, C. Peter (Dean) Manos in front of the Michigan Theatre. The theater was the scene of the highlight of Thursday's benefit, "St. Joe's Goes To The Movies." Donors were treated to parties before and after a showing of the 1933 Bette Davis-Clark Gable musical "Dancing Lady." Persons donating $1,000 arrived at the theater in old-time cars. The evening, fashioned after a 1930s Hollywood premiere, raised $91,700 for equipment for the new St. Joseph Mercy Hospital being built in Superior Township. The News will feature the event Saturday in a page of pictures.
