Wafwek Algalaieli, a prayer leader at the Islamic Center of Ann Arbor, participates in Iftar, or the breaking of the sunrise-to-sunset fast called Siyam, during Ramadan. Ramadan is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar and ends with the sighting of the new moon. Local meteorologists say the first sliver of the crescent moon should be visible here tonight or Sunday evening. The end of Ramadan is celebrated by a feast called 'Id al Fitr.'
