NEW STREET LIGHTS: This new 1,000-watt, color corrected, mercury vapor light at Liberty and Main Sts. is one of three installed downtown on a trial basis by Detroit Edison. The lights will give city officials, businessmen and residents an opportunity to judge their value while Edison is making a free study of street lighting needs downtown. The results of the study and reaction to the three lights now installed will help determine whether the City Council will order wide-spread use of the lights in the business area.
