We and our friends at Kids Read Comics are really bummed that we can't hold the Ann Arbor Comic Arts Festival (A2CAF) 2020 at the Downtown Library this year. Instead, we've worked to create a mini-line-up of amazing comics-focused online programming to tide you over until A2CAF 2021!
THURSDAY (JUNE 18), 1pm on AADL.TV Draw a Dragon with Alec Longstreth
Alec Longstreth, creator of Isle of Elsi and other comics, shows us how to draw a dragon. Get ready to play along and create your own unique dragon.
THURSDAY (JULY 2), 1pm on AADL.TV How to Draw Owly, Animals, and Everything Else with Andy Runton
Are you frustrated with your drawings? Every professional drawing starts with a pencil sketch that you never see! Andy Runton, creator of the Owly comic series, will show you how to create drawings of any animal (and anything you want) by sketching it out first using simple shapes!
WEDNESDAY (JULY 29), 1pm on AADL.TV How to Tell Your Story with Ryan Estrada and Kim Hyun Sook!
One of the most important skills you can learn is how to tell your own story. In this video workshop Ryan Estrada (Student Ambassador: The Missing Dragon) and Kim Hyun Sook (Banned Book Club) share how they turned their life experiences into bestselling comics. They've traveled all over the world telling tales on stage and in books, but they'll show you how to do this without even leaving your home!
If you're not familiar with what A2CAF is, check out this video shot at last year's stellar event.
