Ann Arbor Comic Arts Festival Mini: it's the same A2CAF you love in a cute, smaller size! Join us on Saturday, July 16th for a celebration of comics and comic artists in partnership with Kids Read Comics. We'll have a mini artists alley where you can meet and buy from your favorite artists, hands-on workshops, quick draws, and signings with Dana Simpson and Jo Rioux!

Quick Draw 1

Imagine an episode of “Whose Line Is it Anyway?” starring a group of quick-thinking cartoonists, and you’ll begin to get the picture of Quick Draw. It’s improvisational cartooning with plenty of audience participation, brought to you with courage and cheer by our guest artists.
Craft: Unicorn Masks

In celebration of Dana Simpson's comic series, Phoebe and Her Unicorn, drop in and make your very own unicorn mask! These felt superhero-style masks fit around the eyes and offer tons of opportunities for your little one to get creative.

Comic Bookmarks with Jo Rioux

Try your hand at comics following the guidance of Jo Rioux (Cat's Cradle, The Daughters of Ys). You'll leave the workshop with a simple comic you can use as a bookmark.

Write with Images with Jerzy Drozd
Ann Arbor Art Center, 5-6pm
Learn how a cartoonist uses drawings, panel size, and crazy sound effects to immerse their readers in the story! Cartoonist Jerzy Drozd will lead you in an interactive discussion on some of the fundamental comics storytelling principles, after which you’ll be invited to create a short comics story of your own! For ages 9 and up and all materials will be provided! Space is limited- this workshop is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
