A play selection committee is right now considering what you would like to see next year. When the plays are selected, theatres will be reserved for the new season, and we will take applications for directors, designers and pro· ducers. Work will begin on costumes and sets; rehearsals will start anew. We are an entirely volunteer organization; members from all walks of life participate in many different ways. But without the enthusiastic support of our audience, we could not continue this fine tradition. Won't you choose a membership category and join Ann Arbor's only community playhouse? If you are already a member, will you consider promoting yourself to the next category of membership? From the time it opened in 1928, the Michigan Theatre has been a landmark in Ann Arbor. For 50 years Hollywood's greatest films flickered across the silver screen and performers like Bob Hope and Duke Ellington appeared on its stage. In 1979 the theatre was saved from the wrecker's ball by the people of Ann Arbor. Today the theatre is operated by the Michigan Community Theatre Foundation, a non-profit organization. The Theatre is fittingly a center for the showing of classic films. The Michigan stage hosts plays, concerts, travelogues, magic shoY'S, chamber music and even vaudeville. In short, the Michigan Theatre is a civic aud' turium for cultural and entertainment activities. The support of members of the Michigan Community Theatre Foundation is as essential to the operation of the theatre as the pledges given to public radio and television stations. The dollars received from membership dues are also used to retire the long-term debt on the building and to begin the expensive process of restoring the building to its former elegance. Members receive our regular newsletter, a vote at the annual meeting and most memberships are entitled to reduced prices on tickets to many Theatre events. There are memhership categories to suit every budget and your contributio:l is t!ix-
