Carrie J. Frieze Claimed By Death

Miss Carrie J. Frieze, 69, daughter of the late Prof. Henry Simmons Frieze and Anna B. Roffee Frieze, died at 7 o'clock this morning at her home, 410 North Thayer St., after a lingering illness.
A native of Ann Arbor, and the last of the family of eight. Miss Frieze led a quiet and retiring life, although actively interested in many civic and church projects. The Frieze family contributed much to the history of Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan, and is well remembered by many of the older residents of Ann Arbor. Prof. Frieze, for whom the new organ at Hill auditorium is named, formerly was head of the Latin department of the University and three times served as acting president of the University. He fostered the originization of several musical societies on the campus.
The family came to Ann Arbor from Providence, R. I., and Miss Frieze was born here Jan. 12, 1859, making her home in this city her entire life. No near relatives survive.
Funeral services will be held at 4 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at St. Andrew's Episcopal church. Rev. Henry Tatlock will officiate.
