Pre-Nuptial Parties Arranged for Popular Bride-Elect of April 9

Society circles will be interested during the next few weeks in the many pre-nuptial affairs which have been arranged for Miss Elizabeth Earhart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Boyd Earhart of “The Meadows,” whose marriage to James A. Kennedy, jr., of Forest Ave. will be an important event of Saturday, April 9. The ceremony will be performed at 5 o’clock in the afternoon at the Earhart home by Dr. Frederick B. Fisher of First Methodist Episcopal church.
Miss Anna North of Montclair, N. J., who is to be one of Miss Earhart’s bridesmaids, arrived in the city Wednesday and will be a guest at “The Meadows” until after the wedding, while the other bridesmaid, Miss Elizabeth Mead of Chicago, formerly of Ann Arbor, is expected Wednesday, April 6. She too, will stay with the parents of the bride-elect.
The first of the functions honoring Miss Earhart and her fiancé will take place Saturday evening when the former’s cousin, Miss Helen Butler, entertains at a small dinner-dance at the Detroit Athletic club. Guests at this party also will include Dr. and Mrs. Clement Smith (the former Margaret Earhart), Miss Carolyn Inglis, Miss Marion Davis, Miss North, Edward Hartwick, Dr. George Hammond, Richard Earhart and Wilson Nicklin.
Sunday night Miss Betty Inglis is giving an informal supper party at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Inglis on Highland road, while on Saturday, March 26, Miss Virginia Schumacher is entertaining in Miss Earhart’s honor. The afternoon of Easter Sunday will be the occasion for a tea which the Misses Virginia and Helen Ladd are giving at the Wheeler home on Martin place.
Miss Dorothy Goss is entertaining at luncheon Saturday, April 2, while Miss Carolyn Inglis is honoring the bride-elect at a dinner party on Wednesday, April 6. Mr. and Mrs. Earhart will give the rehearsal dinner Thursday evening, April 7, at their home on Geddes road.
