Appointments of simplicity were chosen by Miss Joan Elizabeth Camp for the setting for the ceremony at the home of her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Carl Dudley Camp, at 727 Forest Ave. at 2:30 this afternoon, when Miss Camp and Charles Edward DeBaker, jr., of Fruitport, spoke their marriage vows.
An informal arrangement of palms and other greenery with seasonal flowers in shades of ivory and white, banked the fireplace in the living room where the service was read by Rev. Frederick Leech. Miss Camp, who was unattended, was given in marriage by her father. She selected a tailored model of ice-blue satin, made in the shirtwaist type with long sleeves and a little collar, and with this she wore matching slippers and a shoulder spray of gardenias.
Mr. DeBaker, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. DeBaker of Fruitport, was assisted by Carl Dudley Camp, jr., brother of the bride, as best man.
The ceremony was followed by a buffet luncheon served informally to the small party made up of close relatives of the bride and bridegroom. A wedding trip in northern Michigan will include two weeks at a cottage near Manistee, and the couple will be at home after Sept. 1 at Highland Park.
Among the guests from out of the city are the parents of the bridegroom and his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. George Sikkenga of Muskegon, and Mrs. A. W. Burnett and her daughter, Miss Margaret Burnett of Corunna, aunt and cousin of the bride.
Miss Camp attended the University following her graduation from Hathaway-Brown school in Cleveland, O., and Mr. DeBaker, who is a member of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity and of Michigamua and Sphinx, holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University.
