The Artificial Ice Co., owners of the building occupied by the University City Sales Inc., was formed in 1909 by the merger of three companies, specializing in the distribution of natural ice.
Most of its ice production goes into homes, though some is used in stores also for food preservation.
William Arnold is president of the company, L. C. Weinman vice-president and E. J. Heinzmann secretary and treasurer.
The present office building, occupied by this company, was built in 1926.
