ANN ARBOR GROCERYMAN ILL FOR TEN DAYS

Vernon J. McCrumb, 59, 824 McKinley Ave., Ann Arbor groceryman, died yesterday afternoon in St. Joseph’s Mercy hospital, after an illness of ten days.

He was born Feb. 9, 1878, in Danby, Ionia county, and came to Ann Arbor in December, 1895. He entered the employ of George Stimpson, grocery store owner.

In 1904, he purchased the grocery store of George Bancroft at 1028 E. University Ave., operating the grocery store there for 25 years. He had been in the grocery business intermittently since.

He was married Aug. 13, 1901, to Helen Stoll of Lodi township. He is survived by the widow; a son, Harold; and a grandchild, all of Ann Arbor and three brothers, Emmett of Portland, Frank of Eagle, and Glen of Grand Rapids.

Funeral services will be held at 4 o’clock tomorrow afternoon at the Muehlig chapel with Rev. E. C. Stellhorn officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.
