John M. Birds Are Honored At Dinner On Anniversary Day
Ann Arbor pioneer families added another golden wedding to the records today, when Mr, and Mrs. John M. Bird of High St. celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of their wedding here. Both have lived in the vicinity most of their lives.
Mrs. Bird was Miss Florence Walker, whose parents lived here and whose father built many of the stone structures of the period in the town, among them the First Baptist church. Mr. Bird, whose family home out Miller Rd., was built in 1869, and is still in use, has been engaged in carpenter work here for most of his life.
Their daughter, Mrs. Harold Seyfried, and Mr. Seyfried, entertained at a family dinner today at their home on Mt. Vernon Ave. for the couple. All of their sons and daughters, with most of the 23 grandchildren and the two great-grandchildren, attended the party.
Coming from Benton, Ark., for the occasion and to remain for a few days, Mr. and Mrs. Judson Bird were in the family group today. Mr. Bird is their son and their other children are: Mrs. Earl Martin of Miller Ave., attending with Mr. Martin and their three children; Mrs. Benjamin Strong, of Whitmore Lake, with Mr. Strong a and four children; Mrs. W. Scott O’Neal, of Ypsilanti, with Mr. O’Neal and their four children; John Bird and his wife, of Chelsea; Mrs. George Wyatt, of Detroit, who is a twin sister of Mrs. Seyfried and who was present with Mr. Wyatt; Edward Bird with his wife, from Detroit; and Mrs. L. P. Hartung of S. State St., with Mr. Hartung.
