Illness Fatal To Member of Pioneer Family
Mrs. Mary Nanry, wife of William F. Nanry, and a member of a pioneer Northfield township family, died Saturday afternoon at the home at 200 Northfield Church Rd. in Northfield, after an illness of six weeks. She was 78 years old.
She was the daughter of the late Edmund and Caroline Keenan Clancy and was the last member of that family. She was born Sept. 7, 1860, on the same farm on which she died. Her great-grandfather took up this land from the government and it had been continuously owned by the Clancy family since.
Mrs. Nanry was a lifelong member of St. Patrick's chuch, Northfield, and the Altar society of the church.
She is survived by her husband, William F. Nanry; four daughters, Carrie at home, Mrs. James Tiplady of Detroit, Mrs. Dewey Forshee and Mrs. Harold Schneider, both of Ann Arbor; five sons, Francis, Clancy of Detroit, and John and Dan, both of Ann Arbor; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning in St. Patrick's church, Northfield with burial in St. Thomas cemetery, Ann Arbor. The solemn requiem high mass will be celebrated with Rev. M. Thomas of Otsego, formerly pastor of the Northfield church, as celebrant. Rev. Anthony Heraty, the present pastor, will be deacon, and Rev. Bernard Hoey of Detroit, sub-deacon. John Hoey of Dexter will sing the mass. The five sons and Leo Fraser will be pallbearers.
The rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock tonight at the residence.
