Summer Season Of Continued Interests Projected By Civic Amateur Theater Group

Tryouts Will Be Held Mondays, Tuesdays

Play To Be Presented July 21 At Whitmore Lake

A summer season of continued interests within the group, a public project for the summer, and a winter program already organized and in preparation, are included in the first announcement of the Civic Amateur Theater for its year under the leadership of Lawrence A. Hoffman of Longman Lane, the new president.

Three plays have been chosen by the playreading committee, headed by the production manager, Howard G. Groomes of Lincoln Ave. and made up of Mr. Hoffman and Marwood Goetz. Tryouts for the. plays will be held for members of the group at 7:30 Monday and Tuesday nights at the Michigan Union.

A laboratory production of "The Red Lamp” by Hillard Booth will be given on July 21 at the Whitmore Lake summer home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Groomes and the same play will be given at a public performance on July 25 at the shell in West Park, with the Ann Arbor Civic orchestra. Bert Reynolds of Montclair Pl. will direct this play.

At the first laboratory meeting in the fall, Mrs. Clarence Pettibone of S. University Ave. will direct “O Helpless Man" by Edgar Morette.

A three-act comedy, "Little Shot” by Percival Wilde, will be the production for the public offering of the theater group, to be given In the fall, probably in November.
