5,900 War Area Maps Presented By News To County School Pupils

Approximately 5,900 maps of the European war area have been sent by the Ann Arbor News to schools in Washtenaw county and the neighboring area as one of the services of The News in its efforts to give readers an accurate and comprehensive picture of the war scene.

The maps are reproductions of the one printed in the Sept. 8 edition of The News. Prepared by The Associated Press, it shows the entire war area, naval bases of the nations involved, the British blockade and the topography of the area over which the war is being waged.

The map is 12 inches square and includes a timetable showing the time necessary for bombing planes from the warring nations to reach objectives.

In addition to Washtenaw county public and parochial schools, including the rural schools, the Plymouth, Northville, Stockbridge, Gregory and Howell school pupils received copies of the map.
