Jack and Stanley Dulgeroe Wke democracy. They like it so well that both have demonstrated their willing. ness to serve in the nation's armed forces. Jack, a first. Heutenant in the army reserve corps and a University Law School graduate of the past semester, has volunteered for a year of active duty and expects to be called soon, Jack worked his way through law school by operating a grocery store here. Stanley, a graduate of Ann Arbor. High school, volunteered 11 months ago for duty in the Panama Canal zone, and is now returning to the United States for special technical training financed by the army. The young men are sons of Mr. and Mrs. Elia Dulgeroff of 1241 Olivia Ave Jack, now 28 years old, was born in Bulgaria and came to the United States with his parents when he was 16. He then was unable to speak English. He enthusiastically undertook to learn the new language, however, and at the same time enrolled in high school. Father Opens Store His father, a graduate of an engineering school in Bulgaria, also was unable to speak English. The senior Dulgeroff found no employment open in his profession so he soon went to Toledo and opened a grocery store there. Jack worked in his father's store during high school years and after graduation, in 1933, came to Ann Arbor to enroll in the University. He decided to open a small store on Wells St. and try to earn his way through school, and his mother came to Ann Arbor to assist him. The store prospered so well that two years later it was moved to larger quarters at 1306 S. University Ave., its present location. Jack's father sold the Toledo store and moved to Ann Arbor to help in the enterprise. Stanley, born in Alton, I., also helped in the family store here. He was to sail today from Panama en route to the United States to study radio and electrical engineering at Fort Monroe, W. Va., or at an army school at Washington, D. C. in preparation for specialized army qualifications. He has been promoted to first class private. Stanley has been in the regular army for 11 months at the Panama Canal Zone, has been promoted to first class private and now is en route to the United States for special army training in radio and electrical engineering. Jack is a first lieutenant in the army ordnance reserve corps, has volunteered for service and expects to be called to active duty soon.
