Raisin River Dragged For Missing Woman, 38

Sheriff's officers this morning began dragging the Raisin river at Manchester in a search for Hazel Briggs, 38 years old, who disappeared at 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon from the home of her mother, Mrs. Stella Briggs, whom she was visiting.

Miss Briggs had been depressed for some time because of ill health, it was reported, and officers believe she may have taken her own life by drowning.

She was described as a blonde, five feet, three inches tall, and weighing 135 pounds. When last seen, she was wearing a black coat with a fur collar, black suede shoes, and a red and white checked dress.

Her description was broadcast last night by state police radio.
