SOUTH CAROLINA GIRL IS BRIDE OF LOCAL MAN

Catherine Jenelle Brown, James Wilson Norris Exchange Vows

Ferns and foliage banked the chancel of the Michigan League and formed a background for pink and cream peonies in standards and for tall iron candelabra holding lighted candles, for the wedding at 4 o’clock Saturday afternoon, of Catherine Jenelle Brown of Hickory Grove, S. C., and James Wilson Norris, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Norris of Baldwin Pl. Miss Brown is a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Claude R. Brown. Dr. Leonard A. Parr of the First Congregational church read the service, and the bridal music was played by Mrs. Carl Smith, organist.

The white marquisette of the bride’s dress was graceful in the bishop sleeves, the shirred bodice and long skirt gathered to a fitted girdle. With this Miss Brown wore a picture hat of marquisette, and she carried Johanna Hill roses, white larkspur and swainsona arranged around a white peony, with her going-away corsage in the center, made of the same flowers.

The maid of honor, Priscilla Ehlers of Scio Church Rd., wore a yellow organza dress that had matching ribbon inserts at the neckline of the fitted bodice and on the full skirt. She had a tiara of swainsona and daisies, and carried daisies, yellow roses and delphiniums with a cream peony center.

A similar costume in powder blue organza was worn by the matron of honor, Mrs. Donald F. Brown of Lansing, sister of the bridegroom. Her tiara was made of swainsona and Finch roses, and in her bouquet were pink roses, and pink and white larkspur with a pink peony. Mrs. Norris, mother of the bridegroom, wore dusty rose chiffon with blue accessories and had a passion flower on her shoulder.

John MacKenzie of Berkshire Rd. was best man for Mr. Norris, and the guests were seated by E. Scott Osler of Glacier Way and Donald F. Brown.

Reception Held

A reception was held in the Mary B. Henderson room of the League after the ceremony. Presiding at the tea tables were Mrs. R. G. MacKenzie of Glacier Way, Mrs. Manley Osgood of Wallingford Rd., Mrs. John F. Ervin of Glenwood Dr., and Mrs. George Lewis of Lincoln Ave. The hostesses assisting were Mrs. Ralph Dimock of Lincoln Ave., Mrs. Charles W. Graham of S. Forest Ave., and Mrs. Walter R. Drury of Martin Pl. White shell vases filled with daisies were the decoration.

Mrs. MacKenzie gave the rehearsal dinner Friday night at the Michigan League for 14 guests.

The couple will be at home after June 15 at the Kingsley apartments. Mrs. Norris attended Winthrop College, at Rock Hill, S. C., and Mr. Norris, who is with the Michigan Mutual Liability Co., received his bachelor’s degree from the University.

Among the guests from away was the bride’s uncle, Grover Brown, of Hickory Grove.
