Eleven Gardens Will Be Opened To Ann Arbor Club Members In August, September

Mrs. W. L. Badger Heads Visiting Committee

Arrangements May Be Made By Calling Those On List

The visiting committee of the Ann Arbor Garden club has announced the opening of 11 gardens to the club members through August and September, when no planned pilgrimages will be held. Arrangements may be made by the club members for seeing the gardens by calling the hosts and hostesses. The chairman of the visiting committee is Mrs. Walter L. Badger of Cedar Bend Dr.

The interest right in town centers upon the gardens of Dr .and Mrs. Alexander G. Ruthven on the campus, at 815 S. University Ave., where attractive vistas please any passersby who look through the hedges or the gateways of the white fence. The summer borders in the enclosed garden back of the University president’s home are particularly brilliant and effective at this season.

Another of the town gardens that has great general interest is that of Prof, and Mrs. John L. Brumm at 1916 Cambridge Rd. Not so far out, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gunther Kessler, 903 Rose Ave., may be seen a display of tuberous-rooted begonias, and Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Liedholz will open their gardens at 1315 Fountain St. for summer visiting.

. Four miles out on Miller Rd. are the gardens of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Robson, and out at 2401 Packard Rd., the gardens of Mrs. E. E. Calkins are to be open. In Huron Hills may be seen the gardens of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Ervin, at 1620 Glenwood Rd. Going over to Glacier Way, a garden pilgrimage will take the visitor to the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Underwood at 3175 Glacier Way.

Mr. and Mrs. Badger’s gardens at 1055 Cedar Bend Dr. are on the summer list, and the two remaining visiting places, out in the hills off Geddes Ave., not too far from town, are well known to the club for their beauty, the gardens of Mr. and Mrs. James Inglis, at 2301 Highland Rd. and of Prof. and Mrs. Raleigh Schorling, 403 Lenawee Dr.
