JOY I. RICE IS BRIDE OF MARTIN BUSCH

Joy Isabelle Rice, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Rice, 1315 S. Seventh St., and Martin William Busch, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert C. Busch, 506 Pauline Blvd., were married at 4 o’clock Sunday afternoon in the Memorial Christian church by Rev. Fred Cowin.

For the service and the reception held in the parlors, about 200 guests were present, those from away coming from Detroit, Jackson, Ypsilanti, Kokomo, Ind., and Russiaville, Ind., and Denver, Colo. Two Detroit cousins of the bridegroom were the musicians, Betty Busch as soloist and Dorothy Romph as organist.

The wedding dress of Miss Rice had a long fitted bodice of white satin and a bouffant skirt of white net. A pearl bead tiara held her veil of fingertip length and she wore a cameo necklace that belonged to her grandmother. She carried a sheaf of white gladioli to which was tied her going-away corsage of gardenias on a white satin hoop. The frocks of her attendants were alike in style, the maid of honor, Norma White of Kokomo, a cousin of the bride, wearing rust red taffeta with a lemon yellow net skirt and carrying gladioli in the same colors. Seafoam green taffeta and net were worn by the bridesmaids, Marilyn O’Kane of Gardner Ave. and the bride’s sister, Mary, and they carried yellow gladioli and daisies. Mary Ellen Kochendorfer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kochendorfer of S. Fifth St., was flower girl.

Herbert C. Busch, jr., was best man for his brother, and the ushers were Cadet Hugh Wanty of Mosley St. and Edgar Busch of Detroit.

At the reception, Mrs. Leo Wood and Mrs. Conrad Eichhorn of Ypsilanti poured. The bridegroom’s parents entertained Saturday after the rehearsal.

When the couple left for a short trip, Mrs. Busch wore a gabardine suit and a hat in soldier blue, white blouse and brown accessories. Mr. and Mrs. Busch will be at home here after Sept. 1. Both are Ann Arbor High school graduates. Showers have been given for the bride by Mrs. Eichhorn and Mrs. Kochendorfer, and by Miss O’Kane with Charlotte LaRue.
