Fred T. McOmber, Ann Arbor insurance agent, is celebrating his 50th year in the insurance business today, and the occasion will be marked by an informal family party tonight at his home on Fair Oaks Pkwy.
Mr. McOmber, who is 77, is believed to hold a service record unequaled by any other insurance agent in Ann Arbor. Starting in business on Dec. 1, 1893, he has represented two firms, Liverpool, London and Globe Co., and the Home Insurance Co. for a period of 50 years. For 40 years he has been an agent for the Springfield Fire and Marine Co., and the Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Co.
He has served as a member of the city fire commission and has been active in the Barton Hills Country club, Huron Hills Golf club, and the Ann Arbor club.
