HERE IS HOW THE BOND BUYING BATTLE OF WASHTENAW IS GOING—We are forging ahead but we have a long way to go. Flags are at halfway points.

Our boys are fighting desperate, climactic battles today—at Cherbourg, on Saipan, in Italy, on Biak, in Burma, in the air over Germany and France, and possibly in a tremendous air-and-naval engagement in the western Pacific. They are giving everything in these battles—everything even life itself.

We here in Ann Arbor and Washtenaw county are in the midst of our own battle—our War Bond battle, to reach our goal of $9,105,000 in the Fifth War Loan. Are we giving everything in our own Wasntenaw battle?

Look at the picture above. It shows how we stand today, how far we are from each objective. Ann Arbor is 28.3 per cent toward Its E Bond quota, 24.1 per cent toward its “Sales to Individuals" quota, Washtenaw county outside Ann Arbor is 40.8 per cent on the way to its E Bond quota, 39 per cent on the way to the Individual Bonds mark. Sales to corporations and banks have just started—they will come with a rush on or after next Monday when big Bonds start to earn interest. Washtenaw county is 18.7 per cent on the way to its major objective—$9,105,000.

Our boys on all the fighting fronts are going to win. We in Washtenaw county are going to win but we must buy, buy, buy— and buy now! We can't wait or hold back any more than our fighting forces can't wait or hold back! Let’s go!
