New Wading Pool Will Be Dedicated

Program To Accompany Presentation Of Gift

A dedicatory program for the new wading pool, to be presented to the children at Burns park by the Ann Arbor Kiwanis Club, will be held at 7 o’clock tomorrow night at the park, according to Harold Barnum, chairman of the project.

The wading pool is one of two to be given to the city park board by the local Kiwanis Club. An identical pool to that at Burns Park is being constructed at West park and will be completed within several days, when a similar dedication will be held there.

The Burns pool, built in the shape of a saucer with a cement base, will hold 38 feet of water, which will be changed every day. It is located in the northwest corner of the park near Tappan school.

“America,” played by the Tonette Band, under the direction of Mrs. Ruth Sutton, will open the ceremonies tomorrow night. Chairman Barnum will then introduce Hod W. Campbell, president of the Kiwanis Club, who will present the pool to Robert Campbell, president of the park board. Mr. Campbell in turn, will present the pool to the children of that community.

Eight-year-old Shelda Stuteville, a Tappan school pupil, will read an original verse, “Our New Wading Pool,” followed by a march played by the rhythm band under the direction of Mrs. Sue Greshke. Mrs. Geneva Riskey will award prizes for the Wading Pool Health and Safety Rules Contest.

Mrs. Margaret Gilbert will discuss “Why A Wading Pool,” and the Tonette Band will play “Mother, May I Go Down to Swim?” The program will be concluded by the children taking part in a bathing beauty parade before entering the pool.
