DIES IN FRANCE Milan Soldier Dies In France Mrs. Elsie Denton, of Milan, has been notified by the War department that her husband, Pfc. Max R. Denton, died in France on Dec. 2 from wounds he received in action on Nov. 19. Denton, in combat since July, was a member of the Third Army. Two days before he was wounded he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for aiding in the capture of a nest of Germans which he and his buddies stumbled upon. Born in Milan, Pfc. Denton, 26 years old, was graduated from Milan High school in 1937. He worked at the Ford Motor Co., in Milan, until a year ago when he left for military service. Denton was trained at Fort McClellan, Ala. And Camp Van Dorn, Miss. In 1940 the soldier was married to the former Elsie Matt, who with their two-year-old son lives in Milan where Denton’s mother, Mrs. Rena Denton resides also. IMAGE TEXT: Pfc. Max R.
