Unitarians Plan Final Meeting In Present Edifice

Rev. Edward H. Redman, minister of the First Unitarian church, will conduct the final service of worship of the Unitarian congregation at its place of meeting for the past 64 years at 11 o’clock Sunday morning. Until arrangements for relocating on Washtenaw Ave. are complete, the church will hold its services at Lane Hall, with the Unitarian-Friends’ church school being carried on at the former Unitarian parsonage, 110 N. State St. The property is being purchased by the Grace Bible Fellowship.

At the Commemoration Service Sunday, Rev. Mr. Redman will review the many associations of the congregation with its building.

The first quarters of the Unitarian church were in the old Methodist church on Fourth Ave. from 1867 to 1882. In 1882 the present building at S. State and E. Huron Sts. was erected, and the parsonage was built the following year.

Plans of the congregation provide for the purchase of a parsonage and church house and the construction of a chapel and social hall at a new site.
