Fox Post, Auxiliary Of VFW To Honor Mrs. Ruth Buchanan

Presentation of a special citation and medal to Mrs. Ruth Bacon Buchanan will be one of the features of a program being presented at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon by the newly formed Ann Arbor women’s auxiliary of the Kenneth Fox post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The program, which will be held at Bethel African Methodist church on N. Fourth Ave., also will include a talk by Mrs. Dorothy Mann, of Detroit, national senior vice-president of the VFW auxiliary. Her topic will be the formation and activities of the auxiliaries.

Mrs. Buchanan—"Aunt Ruth” to thousands of servicemen—is being honored for her morale work during the war through correspondence with men and women in the armed forces. The Kenneth Fox post is awarding her with a citizenship medal and the VFW auxiliary is presenting her with a special citation.

Members of VFW posts and auxiliaries from Ypsilanti, Chelsea and Detroit are expected to attend the meeting.

As part of the musical portion of the program, two songs will be sung by Mrs. Virgil Huey and the Dunbar Sextet will present several selections.

Mrs. C. E. Fox, of Wall St., is chairman of the local auxiliary. Assisting her Sunday as co-chairmen of the hostess committee will be Mrs. Curtis Spratt and Mrs. George Cromwell, both of Glen Ave.
