BACK FROM NEW FOUNDLAND -- TO THIS: Elmer Ruele and his son, Dick, 424 Soule Blvd., do a bit of digging before starting away in their car but Dick couldn't be blamed if he didn't put his heart into the work. An electronic technician's mate, third class, Dick has just returned home from Newfoundland on a Coast Guard furlough. He probably feels not even a seadog should get into such weather as this.

SCENE OF BEAUTY: A student pauses to view the wonders of nature as he plods through this morning's heavy snowfall on his way to school.

WIND WAS STRONGER THAN WINDOW: This open front of the Main St. store of the Fingerle Lumber Co. was the result of whipping winds which proved stronger than the glass as last night's storm reached a peak of frenzy.

KEEPING WINDOWS CLEAR KEEPS MOTORISTS BUSY: Ann Arbor drivers had to go it blind now and then as wind-driven snow cluttered car windows and obscured vision. This picture was taken at Main and Liberty Sts.

A SHOVELIN' WE MUST GO: Not content to await a March thaw, Mrs. Sherman Lager, 519 Soule Blvd., wasted no time getting at her drifted drive and walks this morning.

PLENTY OF WORK FOR THIS OUTFIT TODAY: Ann Arbor's snow-loader found plenty of fuel for its hungry maw today as city workers faced overtime labors trying to dig out of the worst March storm in many years. This picture was made at Main and William Sts.

DRIVER OF THIS CAR WAS NOT ALONE IN HIS PLIGHT: Well stuck on Berkley St. at Main St. is this car and the efforts of those two pushers didn't prove sufficient by a long way. The scene was repeated many times over this morning as drivers went a little way, slid into the rough and decided to walk to work.
