MRS. CHIPMAN, 83, DIES SUDDENLY
Mrs. Janet McDonald Chipman, 83, of 519 Onondaga St., died suddenly at her home Monday night. An active church worker in Ann Arbor for all of the 35 years of her residence here, Mrs. Chipman had taught her Sunday school class at the First Presbyterian Church on the day before her death.
Born March 1, 1864, in New Concord, O., Mrs. Chipman spent most of her youth in Mt. Pleasant, Ia., where she was married, in 1888, to D. C. Chipman. She had lived in Ann Arbor since 1912.
Mrs. Chipman served as an elder of the First Presbyterian Church from 1937 to 1939.
Survivors are two daughters, both at home, Hope, a teacher at University High School, and Dorothy, a secretary on the University’s administrative staff. Also surviving are two sons, Edgar, of Ypsilanti; and James, of Maplewood, N. J., and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 4 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at the Chipman residence, with Rev. James Van Pernis officiating. Friends may call at the Muehlig Chapel until 10;30 Wednesday morning, and at the residence after 11 o’clock.
