Jacob Ganzhorn, Developer Of Subdivision, Dies
Lifelong Resident Of City Was Well Known As Fruit Grower
Jacob O. Ganzhorn, 65, of 640 Sunset Rd., well-known Ann Arbor fruit grower and the owner of the Ganzhorn Hills subdivision, died this morning in University Hospital following a brief illness.
A lifelong resident of Ann Arbor, Mr. Ganzhorn started his real estate development on the northwest city limits in 1928. It includes about 30 acres of land.
Mr. Ganzhorn was born Sept. 9, 1882, in Ann Arbor, and was the son of Jacob and Amanda Ganzhorn. In 1906 he was married to Mina Draper, who died in 1929. On Aug. 10, 1930, he was married to Gertrude Battle of Mt. Pleasant, who survives him.
Also surviving are a son, Vincent; four daughters, Marian, Vera, Helen and Dorothy, at home; three brothers, George of Newark, N. J., Dr. Edwin C. and Conrad, both of Ann Arbor; and two sisters, Miss Minnie and Miss Fern Ganzhorn, both of San Francisco, Calif.
Funeral services will be a 9 o’clock Monday at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Friends may call at the Muehlig Chapel, where the Rosary will be recited at 8 o’clock Sunday evening.
