This two-story cinder block structure is the new home of Wier's Gun Shop at 3245 Washtenaw Ave., outside the city limits. The shop will house the gun repair and custom built firearms business that Edwin W. Wier began more than 30 years ago as a hobby in the basement of his home.

Wier's New Shop Opens Next Week
Wier's Gun Shop, located for the last 16 months on N. Main St. and for 30 years prior to that in the basement of the Wier home, will open next week in a new building at 3245 Washtenaw Ave., just outside the city limits.
Run by Edwin W. Wier and his son, Raymond G. Wier, the shop was built by William Nimke at an estimated cost of $19,000.
Cinder block construction was used. Floors are composition and the windows are steel casement type. There is a partial basement.
The first floor is divided into two sections, with a store in front and a complete machine shop in the rear. The Wiers plan to use the second floor as living quarters for themselves.
Eventually a rifle range for testing purposes will be erected at the rear of the new building.
