Kraus Will Head Humane Society

Prof. Edward H. Kraus, dean-emeritus of the University Literary College, was elected president of the Ann Arbor Humane Society last night. He succeeds Dr. H. R. Shipman.

Other officers chosen by the nine-man board of directors after the society’s annual meeting were Harold Benz, vice-president; Mrs. Donal H. Haines, re-elected secretary; and Mrs. W. V. Marshall, re-elected treasurer.

The general membership of the society, meeting in the office of Mr. Benz at 333 S. Fourth Ave., chose Prof. Kraus, Prof. Arthur E. Wood and Mrs. Arthur S. Aiton as new directors for three-year terms to succeed Dr. Shipman, James O. Kelly and Mrs, Marguerite Smalley.

A resolution thanking Dr. Shipman for his services as president and director was voted.

The society was informed that its shelter at 616 Barber St. had found homes in April for 38 dogs and 11 cats.
