MANCHESTER - Mrs. Emma R. Raymond, 85, a lifelong resident of Washtenaw county, died last night in Mercy Hospital, Jackson. She had been ill for some time.
Mrs. Raymond was born Jan. 5, 1863, in Bridgewater township, a daughter of William and Phoebe Gillet Ayres, and was married to George B. Raymond in 1880.
The couple lived in Sharon township until 1917, when they moved to Manchester. Mr. Raymond died there on May 4, 1930.
After her husband's death, Mrs. Raymond made her home for a time with her son, Ernest, in Sharon township, but in 1943, went to live with her granddaughter, Mrs. William Ahrens, jr., at 14107 M-11.
She was a member of the Methodist Church of Manchester.
Surviving, besides her son, Ernest, and Mrs. Ahrens is another grandchild and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Jenter Funeral Home in Manchester. Burial will be in Oakgrove Cemetery, Chelsea, with Rev. John Bunney officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home.
