Pastor To Give Farewell Sermon
Rev. DeWitt To Leave Church In Ypsilanti
YPSILANTI — Rev. Robert L. DeWitt, rector of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, will conduct his final services in his present pastorate at the church tomorrow morning.
Rev. DeWitt will assume his duties as rector of Christ Church, Cranbrook, in Bloomfield Hills on Aug. 1. He is succeeding Dr. Charles Cadigan.
Rev. Hugh S. White, jr., assistant pastor at St. Luke’s, will succeed Rev. DeWitt as rector.
A member of the executive council of the Michigan diocese of the Episcopal Church, and chairman of the church’s college work in the state, Rev. DeWitt first came to St. Luke’s in 1944.
Prior to that time he had been serving as Dr. Cadigan’s assistant at Christ Church. He has been active in Ypsilanti civic activities, doing work in Red Cross and Community Chest drives.
He also helped organize a clinical training program for ministers at Beyer Memorial Hospital. He is a member of the Ypsilanti Kiwanis Club.

White, now assistant pastor, will succeed him at St. Luke’s.
