Scouts To Hold Open House At Hilltop Cabin

Local Girl Scouts will hold open house Wednesday and Thursday from 1 to 9 p.m. at their newly-built Hilltop Cabin, located at 111 Huron River Dr.

Approximately 50 Girl Scouts, representing various city troops, and 25 leaders will act as hostesses at the open house. The cabin will be decorated with a large Christmas tree purchased by the penny contributions of each Scout and decorated by Brownies with ornaments which they made. Cookies baked by the Scout troops will be served.

Each troop will present a gift for the cabin; furnishings which they have made. The gifts will be accepted by Mrs. W. H. Winklehaus of Sybil St., president of the Ann Arbor Girl Scout Council.

Formal dedication of Hilltop Cabin will be held in the spring, when work on the fireplace is completed and the plumbing is installed. The cinderblock structure, located in the center of a seven and one-half acre wooded area, consists of a large all-purpose room, a kitchen, and bathroom. Painted white, it has brown-stained gables and red brick trim.

Materials for the cabin were donated by local firms or purchased at a generous discount, Labor was donated by the Washtenaw. County Construction Trades Council and fathers of the Scouts.
