Seyfried’s Store Plans Remodeling

Construction Permits Include Two Dwellings

Eight building permits, covering $38,100 worth of construction, were issued this week at the office of the city engineer, with one permit covering a $5,000 store front remodeling job.

The permit for the modernization work was issued to Seyfried & Sons of 304 S. Main St. The jewelry firm plans to use black structural glass for the front facade, and Kasurin & Kasurin have been retained as architects for the job. Albert Duckek is the contractor.

Eventually the Seyfried store will have an entirely new look, with new wall and display cases and an enlarged selling area. The owners report that the work will probably take about a year.

Only two new home permits were granted, one for a $14,500 dwelling to be built at 1730 Longshore Dr. by Milton J. Wint of 547 Elizabeth St., the second for a $12,000 house to be erected by Staebler & Son on Cherokee Dr.

The remaining $11,200 worth of construction permits covered repair work.
