Warren Tindall, 24, Victim Of Plymouth Crash; Companion Hurt

Warren Seymour Tindall, 24-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Burnell Tindall, of 2440 W. Stadium Blvd., was killed this morning and a companion hurt when their car crashed into the side of a freight train at a Plymouth crossing.

Plymouth police said Tindall was dead on admittance to Wayne County General Hospital. His companion, Raymond Engelhart, 26, employed at a Milan automobile agency, was admitted to the hospital with several broken ribs and head injuries.

Train Not Moving

The accident occurred about 2 o’clock this morning, officers reported, when Tindall’s car, headed toward Detroit, smashed head-on into the side of a Chesapeake & Ohio freight train stopped at a crossing on Main St. in Plymouth.

They said Tindall’s automobile hit a freight car in the train. The train engineer, not knowing of the accident, started the train moving forward seconds later and dragged Tindall’s car about four feet, they said.

Tindall apparently was killed when the impact of the crash forced the steering wheel into his chest, officers added.

He was associated with his father in the Electric Service Co., electrical contracting firm located at 2450 W. Stadium Blvd..

High School Graduate

He was born on June 28, 1924, in Ann Arbor. He attended elementary schools here and was graduated from Ann Arbor High School in 1943.

Following his graduation, he worked in his father’s firm until January, 1944, when he entered the Army. He was discharged in May, 1947, and returned to work in the electrical company.

He was a member of the local post of the American Legion.

Surviving, besides his parents, is his step-grandfather, W. J. Wright of Toledo.

Funeral services will be held at 3 o’clock Saturday afternoon in the Muehlig Chapel with Rev. Howard F. Yeager officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.
