U-M Pharmacist Receives Award

Don Francke Is Given Lascoff Memorial

Don E. Francke, chief pharmacist of the University of Michigan Hospital, has been awarded the 1948 J. Leon Lascoff Memorial Award for his contributions to professional pharmacy.

The award, made by the American Pharmaceutical Association now meeting in Jacksonville, Fla., especially recognizes Francke’s work in establishing and preparing the Hospital Formulary of the University of Michigan. This Formulary has become a model for many other institutions.

The citation given Francke states that he “has given so freely and unselfishly of his time and effort to the promotion of professional pharmacy. . . .”

Francke is editor of the Formulary of the University of Michigan Hospital and a member of the American College of Apothecaries. He is also a consultant in hospital pharmacy to the Surgeon General of the Army.
