Officer Katopol Injured As Car, Motorcycle Collide Motorcycle Officer Michael Katopol of the local police department was thrown from his motorcycle and suffered minor bruises when his cycle was hit by a car at Detroit St. and Fifth Ave. about 9 o'clock this morning. Katopol said he had reached the intersection at Detroit St. and Fifth Ave, and was almost completely stopped when a car being driven by John Schmidt, 58, of 1820 Green Rd., made a left turn onto Fifth Ave. and hit his motorcycle. Katopol was thrown about three or four feet, onto the pavement. Schmidt was uninjured. His car received a broken headlight. Katopol's motorcycle received damage to the fenders and crash bars.
